High PerformaNCE Juniors

Our High Performance Juniors program is for junior players who want to try and play at the collegiate level. This is a full service program that provides a player – and their parents – with access to all the coaching they may need to prepare for the recruitment process.

So You Want to Play Collegiate Golf?

As soon as you and your child make the decision to pursue playing in college, everything changes. It is no longer about just getting better at golf. To attract the attention of a college coach, your child needs to be playing their best golf at the right times in the right tournaments. Our High Performance Juniors program is designed to provide assistance with every aspect of preparing for college golf – from scheduling the right tournaments to technical instruction to mental coaching and tracking progress. Our experienced coaching staff – led by David Wood, a former D1 All-American player at UNC – can provide your child with whatever help they need to make them a bona fide collegiate prospect. In addition, when the time is right, we are able to leverage our connections within the college coaching ranks to ensure that your child gets the attention they deserve.

Tournament Scheduling

Your child has to be playing in the right tournaments to attract the attention of the coaches they are hoping to impress. Depending upon the schools they are targeting and the divisions in which they play, our coaches can help parents identify the right tournaments to enter. Once a tournament schedule has been set, our coaches will work with your child to ensure that they are preparing in the most efficient way to play their best in the events that matter the most.

Playing Assessment & Goal Setting

One of the first things we do with a new player is an initial playing assessment. During this assessment, we grade a player on the 3 core areas needed to play good golf – ball control, decision making and self management. Once the assessment has been completed we sit down with the player and their parents to define goals and milestones based on their short term and long term needs. A player’s instruction is then prioritized based on the particular areas that require the most attention to achieve the goals defined within the timelines required.

Progress Tracking

Being able to track a player’s progress between tournaments is essential. Each player is given a “road map” of the stats they need to achieve in order to meet their target score. These “road maps” are tailored to the particular profile of the player and provide a more granular breakdown of what a player needs to do when playing to achieve a certain score. After each round, the player reports back to their coach their stats for the round. This allows the coach to quickly adjust a player’s training program to address areas of concern.

Competitive Analyses

Going from the range to the course is one step up and going from the course to competition is another step up. Pressure bursts pipes and often a player will exhibit very different tendencies when competing compared to playing casually. If we need a player to play well in competition then – as coaches – we need to observe the player in competition. Our competitive analyses cover everything the player does from the moment they set foot on the property – from the way they warm up to how they play and what they do after the round. Our assessment is presented to both the player and the parents and helps direct the focus of a player’s training regime.

Course Management & Mental Performance

Playing good golf is much more than how you swing a club. Less than 5% of golf is your swing and yet most players spend 95% of their time on the range hitting balls. We work with our players on the course – teaching them how to play their best golf by making good decisions, staying focused and managing their emotions. Through our partnership with Karl Morris – the leading performance coach on the DP World Tour – our coaches are constantly learning the best strategies for helping young players to overcome the mental hurdles that may be preventing them from achieving their potential.

Practice Planning

Practice time for most junior golfers is limited by the requirements of school, homework, extracurricular activities and tournament play. As such, it is critical that any available practice time is used effectively to further the progress of the player. Our coaches work with our players to help them understand how to use their practice time in an effective, efficient and productive manner – from the appropriate allocation of time to each area of the game, to the drills and reps required in each session, to practice games that simulate the pressure of competition.

Coaches

Our coaches are some of the best in the business. Not only have we coached elite players – from nationally ranked juniors to collegiate standouts and major winners – but all of our coaches have played competitive golf at the highest level so we know what it means to perform under pressure. Each of our coaches brings a different area of expertise to the mix – from swing instruction to short game and mental coaching to course management – so we have a coach who can help your child with every part of their game.

It is very simple if you want to improve as a golfer start working with Randy. He is hands down the best instructor I’ve worked with in my 40 years of playing golf. He is very knowledgable but only gets at technical as you want and really prefers to keep his lessons and teaching athletic and instinctive. My handicap went from a 10 to 2 since working with Randy. I’ve sent friends to him and they have achieved similar results. Full swing, short game or putting great in all areas and always makes it fun.

“I’ve been to several instructors over the years and Randy is the first instructor who really understands the golf swing and he understands that everyone has a unique golf swing. It really helps when your instructor has played at the highest level because he can really illustrate and communicate on how the pros execute shots. Randy works on all apects of the game from the mental approach, chipping, pitching, iron shots, putting and green reading. And the facility allows for you to practice those different lie situations. The difference is that Randy doesn’t give you instruction and sends you on your way but he handles supervised sessions to insure that you are practicing the correct way!!! This year my handicap has gone from a 20 to a 12 in just 6 months. If you are looking to improve your golf game, this is the place to go!!”
